For many of us, social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube seem to be nothing more than mild entertainment at best, and an irritant at worst. Yet, according to the online marketing gurus, creating a presence on social media is one of the crucial wealth attraction steps you need to pursue. Why?
The size of the audience alone is one of the most important justifications for using social media platforms in your marketing strategy. (You do have a marketing strategy in place, right?)
With potential audiences in the billions on many of these platforms, and hundreds of millions on others, you simply cannot afford to ignore them any longer. None of us can and, while I don’t proclaim to be a social media marketing expert, I do understand numbers; and the numbers tell me that you (we) ignore social media at your own risk – and at the risk of your business.
Niche marketing on social media
Another high-value characteristic of social media marketing is the relative ease of marketing to a particular niche. In fact, the narrower your niche the more valuable your social media efforts will become.
Think of it this way; the audience you are building is obviously interested in what you have to share and, the more valuable the content the more likely they will be to share it with others – others whom they know to have a similar interest. In other words, you are creating a self-selective audience within your niche!
What could be better than that?
Of course, your goal in using social media to market your business is to gain a nice return on your investment, right? Well, here are five generally accepted ROIs from using social media marketing:
- Increase user engagement, through user comments, likes, shares, follows, etc.
- Gain a better understanding of your followers by engaging and communicating with your audience
- Reach new customers through the networks of your fans
- Differentiate yourself from your competitors by building brand identity
- Increase sales for your business
For virtually any business, social media helps you engage and build relationships with your target audience in ways that were impossible in the past. Beyond that, the reach of niche businesses is greatly increased through the sharing of content through social media networks.
With all of these things in mind, it’s clear that social media is NOT the merry-go-round you thought it was; but is, instead, among all of the steps you can take to build your brand and grow your business, a powerful wealth attraction tool.
